2010’s Best News Yet: Special 1 TV…It Lives.
By: chris | May 13th, 2010
When Setanta went down, it brought along with it the joy of billions – yes, billions. Special 1 TV was brought down to the murky depths of brilliantTV shows err…five minute puppet skits now dead at the expense of a financial Icelandic volcanoes
No Setanta, no bother: Special 1 TV is making its triumphant return this summer to BBC3. Let the masses rejoice!
EPL Talk has broken the story which is only fitting since they seem to be the unofficial blog of the show, thankfully. And I’ll admit to having Googled Special 1 TV roughly once every two weeks since its demise to no avail – until now. In a word or four: I feel like champion.
Here’s the fat skinny:
“Special 1 TV episodes will be produced by production company Caboom for BBC3 and BBC online ahead of each of the England games, capturing the mood, atmosphere and anticipation from Jose’s South African studio in the lead up to what’s undoubtedly going to be one of the most exciting World Cup tournaments of recent years. With Wayne and Sven embedded in the tournament, Jose will be doing what he does best – shouting in his opinion from the outside.”
“Special 1 TV” begins on BBC3 on June 11th with daily episodes available on BBC online during the World Cup.
Presumably it’ll take some time for the videos to make its way to YouTube for those of us without BBC3 (or 1…or 54), but after a year without, it’s a small price to pay.
The only small disappointment is it will stay Special 1 TV. I was always partial to I’m On Setanta Sports, and I’m even more partial to I’m Back On BBC3, Bitches – just as The Special One would want.
And here’s to Sven falling flat on his face for the sake of a puppet show in South Africa.
Until then, here’s every episode in order with a head start below. Long live puppets.
