Here’s Why Andre Bikey Will Miss the Africa Cup of Nations Final Tomorrow

By: Daryl | February 9th, 2008

Cameroon beat Ghana 1-0 on Thursday and will play Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday, but defender Andre Bikey will not be joining them. The Reading man is suspended after being sent off for this moment of insanity in the final few minutes of Cameroon’s semi-final win. Apparently Bikey felt the medics were taking too long to get his captain Rigobert Song on to a stretcher and so went and gave one of the unsuspecting guys a good old-fashioned shove. Crazy. Especially as Cameroon were 1-0 up with just moments to go and so in no rush to get the ball back in play.

Also missing from tomorrow’s final are semi-final losers Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire. They go through the paces of the third place playoff today, and we’re (perhaps foolishly) LiveBlogging the event (which could turn out to be a non-event, or could be a brilliant feast of pressure-free football) over on World Cup Blog.

Isn't it obvious? Link This. The Medic is from Ghana. And his country is a goal down. If the treatment is given outside the play area, play will resume with Cameroon a man down.

Obviously the medic is trying to get Song out of the playing area hastily, so Dumb Bikey reacted..
