No, The Other Zidan

By: Daryl | January 23rd, 2008

The big story at the Africa Cup of Nations yesterday was a man of North African descent named Zidan. Not the one you might be thinking of, but Mohamed Zidan, who plays his club football with Hamburg in the Bundesliga and his international football with Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Zidan scored two goals in Egypt’s mighty impressive 4-2 win over Cameroon yesterday. The first was a breakaway and the second was what you see above. I love how fluid the whole thing is, as Zidan takes it on his chest, switches to his left foot and strikes it all in one movement. The other five goals from this game can be seen here.
