What’s inconsistent about this? They did something wrong, they’re punished, seems pretty standard. If this was a player in the NFL he’d be banned for a season and perhaps fined hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not to mention he’d get bitch-slapped by Oprah.

I believe Ballack wasn’t penalized because his outbursts came during the game, where the referee chose how to act on it. Drogba’s outbursts (and Bosingwa’s comments) came after the game, flips flops and all, where the referee no longer had “jurisdiction.”

absurd penalty. wtf is wrong with uefa when they are suspending players for reacting to gross injustice on the field yet they don’t blink an eye at real’s ridiculous spending or barca’s links to the genocidal regime in charge of uzbekistan. it reminds me of cops pointing to a decrease in jaywalking while ignoring a skyrocketing murder rate.
