Gerrard to the Rescue. Again.

It’s official: Steven Gerrard is a superhero. Superman can fly, Batman has all his gadgets and Spiderman does, er, whatever a spider does. Steven Gerrard might look like a normal human, but any time Liverpool are in trouble his right foot comes to life.

Liverpool were 1-0 down to Olympique Marseille after 24 minutes today, but nothing to worry about. Because three minutes after OM took the lead, Gerrard pulled Liverpool level with one majestic sweep of his right foot (above). Problem dealt with, and four minutes after that he hit the winner from the penalty spot.

  I take offence at the headline. Gerrard scoring both goals, the second being the winner 35% of the way through the match, is hardly “rescuing” Liverpool.

  Gerrard to the rescue again? What are you bleeting on about? Steven Gerrard is a world class player…FACT! What would people like him to do? Stand like a wall flower and hope someone else scores? Give me a break! Everyteam has a star player, Liverpool have Gerrard, Torres, Mascherano and Carragher. Other teams like Man United and Chelsea have theirs.
  It actually annoys me that in some commentary last night you would think that Liverpool had lost the game. It goes to show some people hate to see Liverpool do well. Suppose its sour grapes after we beat United.
