Nothing Gets Past Gigi Buffon

It’s probably not news to you that Juve and Italy’s Gigi Buffon is quite good at the old goalkeeping. But just in case there was any doubt, take a look at his save vs Maccabi Haifa in Champions League Group A yesterday.

First the close-range block, then the elastic lean backwards to palm it away from danger. Buffon kept a clean sheet as Juventus won the game 1-0, and Buffon’s save is now immortalized as a 29 second YouTube clip. Until UEFA take it down.

  He’s pretty modest too. In a set of DVDs about Juventus legends, they played a bunch of his brilliant saves. Gigi smiles, and says, “I’ve made a few good saves.”

  Regarding this save, he said,” At the time I barely even realised it [how good a save it was], but by the look on the faces of my teammates I assume it was impressive!
