How have so many people picked Van der Sar? He's been a joke this season, looked far too old, and just because the Netherlands don't have any other goalies doesn't mean he's good enough for them...

Casillas
Bosingwa
Vidic
Puyol
Zhirkov
C.Ronaldo
Senna
Fabregas
Iniesta
Ibrahimowic
Villa

Cassillas must be on my team, although I can`t understand why Buffon isn`t an option. From the right back Bosingwa looks really good for Chelsea and he was one of the best players for Portugal in Euro. I had to pick Puyol both for Spain and Barcelona performances, then I had to choose between Ferdinand and Vidic and decided to gho with the Serb. They are of similar quality to me but I just like him more:) Zhirkov was a 100% as he was simply amazing on Euro plus he plays well for CSKA. Ronaldo has no competition on right flank, in the centre it was tough to choose between Senna and Xavi, eventually Senna gest my vote for his Euro performance. On the left flank I went for Iniesta - one of the most versatile players in Europe at the moment

Van Der Sar : CL winner, EPL winner with a ridiculously goal-tight defence, and was decent in the Euro. I'd have gone for Casillas because of the EURO, but looking back at the Liga and CL I chose VDS (22 goals conceded in EPL vs 36 in La Liga, 6 goals conceded in the CL vs 13).
Ramos : Won the Euros with Spain, the Liga with Madrid... One of Madrid's best players IMO, and very possibly the best right-back in the world for the past two or three seasons already.
Vidic : With Ferdinand they were just the best defensive pairing in Europe, IMO. Serbia and England didn't make the EURO, but the defensive strength Man U won the double on was 90% due to them. Puyol had a great Euro, but with Barca finishing 3rd (and conceding 43 goals) I felt it hard to keep him in there.
Ferdinand (c) : See Vidic.
Evra : Again, Man U's CL and Premier League double where he was good offensively and defensively made the choice.
Ronaldo : Free-scoring for Man U, and gave created 6 of Portugal's 7 goals in the EURO... As unlikeable as he is, he was the best winger this season (especially since Messi wasn't in competition, strangely enough)
Fabregas : Didn't get much playing time for Spain in the EURO, but was impressive for Arsenal all season. Arshavin I'm surprised people aren't picking up on his disastrous Russian League campaign... 5th? Sevilla finished 4th in the Liga and won the UEFA Cup for a second time in a row not too long ago (and I'm pretty sure they had at least one player that had a good WC 2006), and nobody was hailing Kanoute, Navas, Capel or Luis Fabiano as a potential Ballon D'Or winner.
Xavi : Fantastic this season, brilliant Euro, and all-round good playing. Tremendous player.
Iniesta : See Xavi. Together they can run any midfield ragged.
Messi : I'd have preferred him at right wing and Ronaldo on the left, but if he's a striker I'm fine with it.
Torres : I think he's the goalscorer that had the best season, even though Villa, Guiza and Ibrahimovic also have strong arguments to be made.
Fergusson : Winning the European double? The only thing that comes close is winning the EURO, but Aragones (also a horrible person, but that's not the question) managed to fluff his rep at Fenerbahce by fluffing out of the CL.

I see you've gone mostly on Euro 2008, as that competition didn't actually happen I can't really count that as a yard stick for football...I jest. I'll be honest though, my footballing brain has already forgotten about Euro 08...it seems like years ago.

So, I've gone for players based on Champions League 08...which was actually longer ago. But, as I spent my first year in halls with the biggest Manchester United fan I'll ever meet, I watched every Champions League game there was, as our local had a rather fun duel screen thing going on.

Anyway,

GK - Van Der Sar - Simply because this will probably be his last hurrah in the united goal....(or will it?)and to be between the sticks of a side that wins the double is good enough for me.

RB - Bosingwa - Pacey, beast of a shot, now at Chelsea, just a great player really.

LB - Evra - Really impressed me at times last season, he's got a bit of flair too, and was a steady performer when he wasn't having a tussle with the Chelsea ground staff.

CBs - Terry and Vidic - The two best cbs in the league, absolutely dominate the defence when they're both on form. We all know Terry can do this, the suprise is Vidic, I remember his first game for Manchester, he looked like a lost boy on his first day at school, he's adapted brilliantly

RM - C.Ronaldo, I don't think many had a better individual years than him last year, as much as I dislike his lack of loyalty, showboating and general cockery, if someone asked if you'd have him in the team it's a no brainer...quite why Gerrard is in this catagory is a mystery...I'd have had him centre mid

CM - so I've had to go for Xavi instead.

LM - Ribery for me, until he did himself in he was getting a good thing going, he's a player I'd love to see more of, so I'm hoping Man City bid 45 million for him or something equally retarded over the january transfer window.

AM - Fabregas, despite Aragones still thinking he's shit, I think he's quite good. He's worth putting in the team for moments of the sublime.

FW - Messi - I love watching this man with the ball at his feet, he gets me all hot under the collar.

FW - Ibrahimovic - despite his showboatingshowoffery he's actually got the talent behind it, if he could sort out his attitude then he'd be a bezzle, as it is he'll have to make do with being exceptional. I'm constantly amazed he's Swedish.

Manager - Fergie, he'd work well with the team cause there are a few familiar faces in there, and he'd also give Zlatan a few hair dryers.

Awesome way to spend a morning coffee this.
