Top 10 Goals From The Champions League Group Stages

By: chris | December 19th, 2008

Title says it all and, as you’d expect from the Champions League, they’re all fantastic goals bustling with quality. Love the Keita goal as he was the only one of about three dozen Lyon players not offside (he wasn’t, checked it in Super Slo Mo), but think the favorite might be Riera because the ball is seemingly laboring its way towards the net (even though it’s not, it merely appears to be a heavy ball) and yet you know the keeper has not a prayer. Honorable mention to Raul because I’d never seen him score a Champions League goal before.

I liked the goal by Capdevila… because I’m pretty sure that he’s left-footed, but he had that sweet right-footed volley into the upper right corner, that was an awesome shot

Nice to see little Aalborg getting some love. These things are usually focused only on the big boys.

Even though it’s a very nice goal, the goal by Curth (Aalborg) shown in the video is not the top 10 goal. The top 10 goal was against Man U

That Riera ball looks slow because it was STILL RISING! What a hit.

I still can’t get over that Gerrard strike. Look how much he had to turn onto it – ridiculous.

Why is berbatov’s goal there? he was wide open and had tonnes of time to put that away..nothing really incredible about that. seems like they just need a token man united reference in any top ten list this year.

Still far too many of these goals are long range screamers, which would be fine if the list were top ten bullets….but i expected to see more intricate stuff… eye opening that barcelona has not been represented.
