2006/2007 English Premier League Goals of the Season

By: Bob | May 16th, 2007

Now that the dust has settled and we are left to a summer of courtroom drama, we can all take a deep breath and think back to the 2006/2007 season that was in the English Premier League. We can close our eyes and try to recall some of the great goals and great moments from the season. Or you can take a gander at videos of ten of the season’s best goals after the jump.

The goal selections come from this video where you are asked to vote for your favorite. My vote goes for the Essien goal with Van Persie’s coming a close second.

Didier Drogba – Chelsea v. Liverpool

Robin Van Persie – Arsenal v. Charlton

Leighton Baines, Wigan v Manchester United

Matt Taylor, Portsmouth v Everton

Michael Essien, Chelsea v Arsenal

Paul Scholes, Manchester United v Aston Villa

Peter Crouch, Liverpool v Bolton

Denny Landzaat, Wigan v Arsenal

Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United v Fulham

Wayne Rooney v Bolton

The Essien one was a great goal especially in the context of that match, and gut wrenching for Arsenal fans. Mourinho also does his ‘walking the dog’ celebration.

Bob! EPL didn’t listen to you and drop their law-suit against youtube like we thought they would!!!! Four of the goals “are no longer available” — and I’m pouting, btw.

The Essien goal hands down is the winner. Then honorable mention to the Drogba screamer.

Diane – I replaced the ones that were taken down. We shall see how long all these last. They are certainly taking down more videos on YouTube and Daily Motion each day, but for every one that goes down another 100 go up.

Thank you Bob! I can’t believe EPL are actually paying someone(s) to seek and destroy such a staggering amount of free advertising for their teams, league and game. Pitiful, yet AGAIN :( .

It has to be Van Persie,to jump up in the air and shape your body to volley from outside the box and connect with the ball in the box is not at all easy!Injustice if this is not goal of the season!

For me it has to be Drogba’s goal.He takes it first on his chest ,them turns instantly to shoot in with his left foot.He was so swift ,any goal keeper could have been taken unawares.
