A Name to Remember: Laureano Luduena
By: Bob | February 26th, 2007
It is only a matter of time before all the big clubs in the world start trying to sign fetuses. The pursuit of new talent continues to lead teams to chase after players who are barely old enough to read. Witness the case of the newest Argentina sensation Laureano Luduena who is being courted by among others Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Luduena happens to be 11 years old.
He also has scored a nifty 160 goals in 75 games over the past two seasons in the province of Cordoba, which as everyone knows is a high scoring league for kids who have just learned how to walk.
Despite being targeted by Argentinian outfits River Plate and Boca Juniors, the boy’s father Walter said he believes his son’s future is overseas, so the entire family are planning to travel to Spain in March where Laureano has trials with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Espanyol.
“I’m preparing all my newspapers cuttings, looking for the videos of my goals and some magazines to be able to show in Spain,” he added.
This is what it has come to? An 11-year-old bringing his scrapbook to Barcelona and Real Madrid to impress them?
Damn, I knew I should never have let my mother throw away my most valuable player trophy from the Burger King U-8 tournament. Clubs would be knocking down my door if they knew about it.
Amazingly, there are no videos of Ludena on YouTube but somehow I don’t think you’ll have to wait until he reaches puberty before one appears somewhere.
