A Name to Remember: Madin Mohammed

By: Daryl | February 18th, 2009

There’s a good chance you’ve already seen this vid of young Madin Mohammed in action by now, but if not then you’re in for a treat. Because of his born-in-Algeria, moved-to-France background (and silly-good skills) little Madin has already been labelled “the new Zidane”. Cue obligatory disclaimer paragraph:

He’s only six years old, no one is really “the new” anyone, he might not even make it, Sonny Pike, let’s hope his parents don’t push him too hard, etcetera, etcetera.

The Sun is already rumour-mongering by linking Chelsea and Real Madrid with the lad, but I’m pretty sure that misses the point of why this video is so popular.

Surely no one watches these wonderkid videos in anticipation of a six year old going pro? Even if this kid makes it, it’s so far in the future it’s not even worth thinking about. He might be
a name to remember, but only if you’ve got some significant long term memory space.

So how about we just do this: Watch the video, enjoy the tricks, and feel sorry for all the six year old defenders who look thoroughly bored by the impossible task of trying to tackle him.

saw this a few months back – very cool but WHY legitimize it by editing half of the tricks to be more sped up .

contrary to the Homer Simpson belief (when making a movie with Mel Gibson): everyone does NOT like things much better in fast motion

He only has the one move so far. Spin to the left, move right.

I’m with Adas–the kid’s got one move. It’s sick, don’t get me wrong.

I would say he only has one complete move in the spin.
But he has plenty of skills with the balls that could develop into moves.
He’s six. love to see his moves at 10

Live in France? he will most probably be an Arsenal players in a few years.

Great skill to be so young and he will learn the total game better as long as he has someone to keep him grounded.

    Wonderful skill!

This video has been manipulated to make the kid look faster as the he dribbles. Gato Obregon, the 9 year old kid from Mexico is much better !
