A Name to Remember: Tcham N’Toya
By: Bob | September 21st, 2006
Sure his name might look intimidating and impossible to pronounce, but in due time the words Tcham N’Toya might be rolling off your tongue like butter falling off a piece of corn on the cob. The Congolese-born Frenchmen made a name for himself yesterday when he scored the game winning goal to lift Football League Two Notts County (the team, not the brand of jelly) to a stunning victory over the Premiership’s Middlesbrough in the Carling Cup.
N’Toya joined the Magpies this season on a free transfer from Chesterfield FC where he scored 8 goals in 48 games. An impressive athlete with a world of natural talent N’Toya has never quite blossomed into the star that many tapped him to be while growing up in the youth system of Troyes AC in France.
One game a striker does not make, but we’re predicting that the 23-year-old N’Toya will only gain confidence after his Carling Cup heroics and that the man with the next to impossible name to pronounce will be getting a look from some of England’s bigger clubs in the coming months.
