A New Nou Camp

By: Bob | September 24th, 2007

As far as intimidating stadiums go, Barcelona’s Nou Camp has to be one of the most. The stadium, which has been the home of some of the sport’s most legendary players, holds the most fans of any venue in Europe and after its €250m facelift it is only going to get bigger: “As part of the redesign, the stadium’s capacity will be increased from 98,000 to 106,000. The stadium will be given an outer shell composed of multi-coloured tiles, to reflect the style of Antoni Gaudí, a prominent local architect whose turn-of-the-century work can be seen all over the city. The tiles will be able to change colour and could even be used as a giant television screen.” A television screen that might just show Ronaldinho sitting on the bench for Barca or playing in London.

I cant see why anyone would want to change such a beautiful stadium! its crazy! The Nou Camp is one of the best stadiums in Europe as it is, and its the most brilliant place to watch such a team as Barcelona play. The openness of the stadium is trully breathtaking, and putting a roof on it and those horrible luminous tiles! I mean, its gonna look like a glow in the dark toilet seat! As soon as that roof's on its gonna be a completely different place and i dont think Barca fans will be too impressed. Dont change the Nou Camp!
  • It's certainly going to look unique when it's refurbished but I'm not sure it will look more intimidating? The Nou Camp is amazing the way it is, surely if they were going to do the stadium up they could have come up with something that added more than only 8,000 seats?

Nooooooooooooooooo! Don't put a roof on it! The openness adds to the magic.
