A Penny for your Call

euro-one-cent-coins.jpgNow here is a fun way to protest against poor refereeing decisions. After the Spanish provincial side CD La Redondela’s match against Olont CF recently it was time for club official Jose Carlos Quintannait to pay referee Alvaro Moguera Coronado. Instead of handing him a crisp €100 for his services he gave him a bag with 10,000 one-cent pieces. Said Quintanait: “The club directors spent the entire week changing bank notes around the town, shops, bars and supermarkets until we had 10,000 cents.” The referee foolishly declined the payment. By the way, €100 for 90 minutes worth of work in a lower division match? I am clearly in the wrong business.
