A Pick-Up Truck Pitch Invasion

It is about time that someone taught those soccer parents and their selfish kids a lesson. Week after week, month after month, year after year, they have the audacity to show up at pitches the world over and to park their cars in front the future home of a lottery winner’s sons. This ought to teach them a lesson for good.

In Ireland, Gary McNamara, who is the son of a woman who won €115 million in a lottery, recently took offense that players and families at a U-17 game parked in front of his future home. He got in his truck and took matters into his own hands.

The incident took place at Lisnagry soccer club near Castleconnell in east Limerick on Sunday afternoon while an U17 soccer match between Lisnagry and Hyde Rangers was in progress.

Up to 50 spectators, including horrified parents, watched as Mr McNamara’s pick-up truck drove onto the soccer pitch just after 3pm.

“Everyone had to run for cover,” one eyewitness said. “It was very scary. He was roaring and shouting. He spun around on the pitch and did a fair bit of damage to the pitch.”

And now for the really charming part of the story where Mr. McNamara explains his actions.

“Jealousy must be an awful thing. They must be jealous of me over building a big house when they’re at home starving,” he said.

He’s right. They were probably at the soccer field scavenging for potatoes hoping that someday the spoiled son of a lottery winner would hire them to scrub his toilet. That’s the only reason one goes to a youth soccer match, right?
