Lampard is with Adidas. i don't see him in your lists. Adidas midfield is packed with team oriented players... who are what adidas markets...the team is better than one. Nike focuses on individual superstars, and form the team around individuals.

@Ali-- this is about personal sponsorship not their team's sponsorship. For example, Hatem Ben Arfa plays for OM and France (or has played for France) both of which are sponsored by Adidas but he is personally sponsored by Nike (he wears their boots, attends their events, appears in their commercials, etc).

Hold on, why is Ribery on the Nike team?!
He plays for Bayern and France, both of which are sponsored by Adidas.

@ Slan

'would only make a team in England because everybody accepts that you do not need to understand how to defend to be good there'

'I wonder if Chris has ever watched a football match'

1. It would be a draw. The two teams are flawed the adidas team has a poor defence too slow and and poor selections. The nike team would attack too much and leave enough holes for the adidas team to score.
2. Yes, I have to say that before you all started this you should have learned about the strengths of the players firstly that you selected then about all the other possibilities. The fact is that for with regard to the Adidas team I wonder if Chris has ever watched a football match he has chosen names based on newspaper reports and out of date at that. Jamie carragher is considered a passable centre back basically past it now and definitely not a good wingback while he can do the job in a pinch definitely not a starter on any team. As regards Kolo Toure he would only make a team in England because everybody accepts that you do not need to understand how to defend to be good there. He is shambles. As regards the other picks De Rossi and Gerard play the same position and you left out one of the best defensive Midfielders in Ballck to include both.
The Nike team's the back line would ship a lot of goals. Cannavaro is past it physically and without a stable back line i.e. non attacking he will be a liability. Puyol needs a organised quick supporting partner and wingbacks that will get back Evra and Dani Alves do not. The Midfield will be over worked especially since Ribery and Cristiano do not defend. Since two defenders and two midfielders do not add much to team defence another midfielder is needed to balance the team. The great thig is that most of the forwards on the team work well alone. I would exclude Torres and include Fabregas. You also left out Brazil's first choice Maicon who keeps Dani Alves on the bench.
