Ajax Fans Cheer For Feyenoord, Apocalypse Forthcoming

By: The Offside | April 25th, 2011

As we slip ‘n slide into squeaky bum time, we also enter into the portion of the season where the pitch is equally as important as the video board. And often, we’ll see the crowd erupt when nothing of note has happened on the pitch, but rather something of note has happened down the road – hundreds of miles away. We expect this. We don’t expect this to happen when the team on the video board is the despised arch rival.

Ajax and PSV are clamoring for the title with Twente, which went into the day a game ahead and a three point buffer on latter, four on the former; the Amsterdammers were going up against Excelsior, while PSV took on Feyenoord, Ajax’s most despised.

Feyenoord beat PSV. And Ajax fans cheered. And everyone ducked for cover.

(Or maybe just me.)
