Real Madrid are in trouble under this type of management. They don’t know which players to buy and they don’t know which manager to sign. They would rather see the team doing back-heels and lose than playing a simple game and win. I’m sure they can go to a circus if they want to be entertained…entertaining but pointless.

It doesn’t matter if you win La Liga, the managers job is never secured. What does that do to the Real Madrid camp? There is no stability and there is only uncertainty. There is no questioning about the President’s goal…he wants to win playing entertaining football, but he doesn’t know how to achieve it.

juan, rationalize all you want but when it comes down to it, real madrid won the league and barcelona didn’t. you can point fingers at players, managers, and other teams but the fact of the matter is barcelona was TERRIBLE in a handful of the matches they played throughout the season and subsequently lost points where they shouldn’t have. barcelona had a chance to take a commanding lead over sevilla and madrid and just didn’t. that’s no one’s fault but their own.

Madrid fans are all idiots. Your players are the reason Madrid suck. I am sure Capello is the first person that was disguested by their poor results and mediocre play. Except this season Capello took out the best in all their princess. He sidelined Robinho until he gave the best out of himslef, same for Beckham. ROnaldo had to go. But does capello do all this stuff on his own? NO!! Who the f… is Bernd Schuster besides Capello. I don’t see Getafe doing that well or comparing to Capello’s CV. Be prepared to suck next year just as you did this year. The only difference is that Barcelona, Sevilla and Valencia won’t stumble big time like they did this year. THis reminds me of when you fired Del Bosque. You fired him because he lost to Juventus??? please.. But honestly don’t fool yourselves Madrid fans. The best season in four years equales Barcelona’s worts (tied in points.) Idiots

Personally, as a Madrid fan, I think this was the kind of act typically confined to the quarters of short buses. I’m tremendously upset, not just because of Capello, but because of the trend in general. How does a team grow if it’s constantly under new leadership, trying to adapt to new strategies: Easy answer? They don’t.

Still, for the sake of those who don’t know, Calderon’s gripe with Capello was (according to him) style of play. In Spain, the way you PLAY the game is nearly as important as the result. The most recent example of this was in ex-Real great Jorge Valdano’s criticism of the coaching in Liverpool and Chelsea. After claiming that fans at Anfield would cheer for a peice of “s**t hanging from a stick,” he went on to say:

“Chelsea and Liverpool are the clearest, most exaggerated example of the way football is going: very intense, very collective, very tactical, very physical, and very direct,” Valdano wrote. “But, a short pass? No. A feint? No. A change of pace? No. A one-two? A nutmeg? A backheel? Don’t be ridiculous. None of that. The extreme control and seriousness with which both teams played the semi-final neutralised any creative licence, any moments of exquisite skill.”

No doubt Calderon would agree, and his criticism of Capello’s style has been that it is too defensive, direct and, um… effective? sigh.

I love the insanity at play here. Barca wins two years in a row, Calderon finally breaks through in what was a thrilling finish to La Liga…and then he gets the pink slip.

Of course, these are the same people that tried to run Becks out of town in January before he saved their bacon. Er, jamon serrano. Whichever.
