Ball Boy Attack Lands Peruvian Keeper in Jail

By: Bob | September 20th, 2007

soccer-ball-boy.jpgIt is a ball boys’ world and we are all just living in it. After watching one score a goal for his team and another save a goal and yet another take out a keeper with an iron bar, today we learn that a ball boy in Peru has helped to put the country’s national team keeper in jail.

Cienciano keeper Juan Flores was sent to the pokey because he kicked a ball boy during an away match against Total Clean.

He was apparently angry after the ball boy threw the ball onto the pitch rather than handing it to him for a goal kick.
Cienciano official Jose Quispe said Flores may have been insulted.

“They’re saying that the ball boy was annoying him from the start and he told the referee,” he said in a radio interview.

Pictures showed the ball boy being treated at the side of the pitch with his right leg bandaged from his knee down to his ankle. Total Clean won the match 1-0.

Man, those ball boys sure are becoming a powerful force. I’m just waiting for the story to come about how a ball boy was the one who forced Jose Mourinho out of Chelsea.

Yep, named after a laundry company.

The club was created in 2003 by a local laundry of Arequipa. The laundry is called also called Total Clean. At first, the team was only made up of employees and owners of the laundry. However, when the team reached a more competitive level, the owner of the laundry, Felix Enciso, scouted the Arequipean league to find more competitive players. His efforts were rewarded with something that every chairman of a club would want, playing in the Peruvian First Division.
