Bayern v Hoffenheim: Evil Wins Out Over Good.

By: chris | December 5th, 2008

Is it safe to say most, if not all, of non-Bayern fans in Germany were rooting for Hoffenheim? Probably? Close enough.

The battle between Hoffenheim & Bayern, first and second in the Bundesliga respectively, was as advertised. A highly exciting game deserving of its billing as the battle of the Bundesliga’s best – if the finishing at times was a bit lacking. Especially from Luca Toni, who made up for missing an earlier gimme on goal with a dramatic winning goal – set on a platter by who looked to be Andreas Beck of Hoffenheim, cruelly – as only 30 seconds remained on the clock. The goal sends Bayern to the top of the Bundesliga table along with Hoffenheim, with the upstarts still having an upperhand in goal differential, but momentum going fully in Bayern’s direction.

Luca Toni should keep unscrewing his ear. If he needs to fire a weapon, he should do it like Hertha’s Gojko Kacar and use a rocket launcher and not a pistol.

When Toni scored the killer goal, I was like ‘there goes my prediction’. This match does live up to its hype. And it was physical too.

Alright, I confess. I was secretly rooting for Hoffenheim actually. :P And me neither a supporter of both sides even. But as much as Bayern are now level on points with Hoffenheim, the latter is still at the top because of goal difference. ;) Bayern were in a way lucky to have grabbed all the three points at almost literally the last minute.
