Still, this one makes the list and since it impressed players coaches that commented as well as the non-U.S. media, I would agree with Daryl about it looked easier than it was (there's actually a video shot from above and behind that makes that more evident as it shows the curve that centered the ball before it hit the net). note: Gerrard song available on request...BTW, shouldn't offside have a song library with ratings for raunchiness, or rhyme or anything? I've seen plenty of exposed nets since I began watching MLS and I've seen players miss them from 20 feet. Since I also follow English football, I have spent many years watching some of the best players in the world "punting the ball up the field" to no one and nothing (except maybe a fellow in the end stands). No one said this was the best goal of Beckham's life, but it was a hard, clean strike that bent a bit to hit the center of the net from 70 yards. Come on. It was fun to watch, fun for the player and fun for the team, and it was, whether you think it the simplest of tasks or not, in fact, quite uncommon. What's not to like?
