Betting on your Son to Play Professional Football is an Increasingly Wise Investment

baby-thomas-froggy-and-soccer-ball.jpgSo, we went down to the local park the other day to check out our retirement fund. There is a kid who plays there every day, has to be about 6 years old, but boy does he have mad skills. He dribbles like Maradona, he bends it like Beckham and when it is halftime and the parents bring out the orange slices he is always the first to sprint over to wait in line. He’s got that type of speed.

We mention all this because we are planning on throwing a few quid on a bet that the kid will some day play in the Premiership. Heck, we might even go for a daily double and wager he’ll play for his country.

We’re no fools. We’ve seen how well it has worked for Chris Kirkland’s poppa and we expect to see a similar payout soon for the father of a 16-year-old who has just signed with West Brom.

Heck, the kid down at the park is a sure bet and come ten years from now we fully expect to ride his fortunes to a lifetime of leisure. If he fails, at least we’ll have his stem cells to fall back on.

Not sure that playing for a shite club like West Brom really qualifies as playing “professionally”.
