Billy the Breakdancing Badger Gets Booked

By: Laurie | February 4th, 2008

Somebody tell me, did Fulham’s Billy the Badger get sent off? Kind of looks like it.

I’m imagining the conversation over the dinner table.

Wife: So, darling, how did your day go?
Husband: Good, sweetheart. Good. Sent off a badger.
Wife: A badger. Oh, that’s lovely. Nasty creatures, badgers.
Husband: Right. And he was break-dancing. On the pitch.
Wife: Oh! Break-dancing! Fancy that! Pass the potatoes, would you dear?

The “About this video” YouTube section says:

How do you know an EPL team has gone completely American? Not by the number of Americans they employ but by the fact they have an obnoxious mascot. Taken from the 2-1 against Aston Villa on 2/3/08.

Apologies for the crap quality.

I have nothing to add, except that crap quality is a whole lot better than no quality at all.

(Thanks to Melissa for the find AND to Samantha for the quick thinking that allowed her to capture the moment for the rest of the world.)

Thanks to Samantha for videoing it off her tv with a digital camera and uploading it to youtube. That badger incident was the focal point of my entire Sunday (not the Superbowl, sadly).

The fact that I taped it off my TV with a digital camera just adds to the classiness of the event.

The Premiership has always had mascots…. only West Ham and Blackburn have ‘american style’ cheerleaders. Don’t work one is a bloke…. yuk.

Anyway Badger is the same one that patted Avram round the head a couple of weeks ago.

There is news that Badger is in trouble with the authorities for his Michael Jackson routines.. well he could be Michael Jackson after all Michael Jackson doesn’t know what he looks like!!

although it should be forbidden to talk about american football here, i did indeed watch the superbowl, and, coinincidentally, enjoyed a hilarious commercial featuring a family of badgers in a new Corolla car.

At the :40 mark of this video, you can see what Dean Whitehead thinks of Reading’s lion mascot.

Funny, Lucas. I’ve always wanted to do that to Chuck E. Cheese but didn’t think I could get away with it.
