Black Sabbath Bassist wants to buy a piece of Aston Villa

geezer-butler-aston-villa.jpgAt a time when foreign owners are scooping up English football clubs like they are discount items in a thrift store, it is reassuring to read that an Englishman is interested in investing in one of the clubs. Reassuring if you are willing to overlook the fact that the Englishman’s name is Geezer and that he has spent his life playing bass for bands called Black Sabbath, and Heaven and Hell.

Geezer Butler is talking about using the money he has made off of songs such as “Children of the Grave”, “Fairies Wear Boots”, and “Trashed” to invest in his favorite football club.

“I’m thinking of trying to buy into Aston Villa FC. I never miss a game on television in the U.S. where I live and I’m looking into investing 60 million… of what I can’t say.”

60 million of what….how very cryptic. It is amazing what continued drug use can do to one’s brain. If Butler does indeed invest in Villa, a club purchased last year by the American Randy Learner, he might be able to draw players away from the Ozzy Osbourne club.

If he buys a piece of Villa it'll probably be the best thing to have happened to the club in decades. The dude's a living legend, he wrote all of Sabbath's songs.
