Blatter Full, Again

pig.gifWhen you consider the great historical champions of women’s rights, you invariably think of Betty Friedan, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and…Sepp Blatter. I know I do. And with the Woman’s World Cup back in action, you knew it was Sepp’s time to shine once again. Why do they let this man near a microphone during women’s tournaments?

Anyway, you may remember that Blatter, the head of FIFA, once had the perfect idea to improve women’s football: skimpier outfits!

Blatter, shown at left, famously opined: “Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball. They could, for example, have tighter shorts.”

Well of course they should! See? Was that so hard?

And now, in the wake of Germany’s 11-0 thrashing of South American champ Argentina, Herr Blatter is not pleased. Sepp sez:

“At the start of the competition, the result of 11-0, this will not enhance the chances to do it, but it’s only the first match. In women’s football there is a lot to do in development. We have seen on Monday some naive attitudes of the team receiving so many goals. Instead of trying to block a little bit in the defence, they tried … to go for goal.”

On the other hand, second guessing the women’s teams is better than enforcing stripper kits. Um, right?
