Oh, and btw, there is precident for a nation getting the tournament just 16 years after they hosted it, especially if there is an emergency. Anybody remember that after hosting a good WC in '70, Mexico was called on when Columbia pulled out of the '86 WC and FIFA gave it back to Mexico. That was a good tournament (Hand of God goal, Maradonna generally being unstoppable, and even the Mexican Wave was created there. Having another WC in this country in 2010 would finish the job that 1994 started, i.e. making soccer a major sport in this country.

There is no way FIFA are going to let people get kidnapped or murdered at the World Cup. Not a chance.

England probably has a better sized country and public transport for hosting a tournament, but with how weak the dollar is, I wouldn't be suprised if Europeans wouldn't rather come here for a month.

Who needs a year? We could host the World Cup on Saturday

I find it funny how people think the US is not a good venue because of the disinterest of the American public, but the Rose Bowl was filled for the final in 94, setting attendance records at 94,000 people. That is an impressive feat everywhere, not many stadiums in the world hold more people.

A plastic pitch? Fifa will stay far far away? Also you need more than one stadium with more than 30,000.

Ahmad: We hosted the u-20 world cup. and FYI, no, Canada won't get it. I hear FIFA wants stadiums to seat more than 10,000.

If South Africa fails, I hope the substitute is not the USA. No soccer territory, no democracy any more.
