Anybody remember that after hosting a good WC in '70, Mexico was called on when Columbia pulled out of the '86 WC and FIFA gave it back to Mexico. That was a good tournament (Hand of God goal, Maradonna generally being unstoppable, and even the Mexican Wave was created there. Having another WC in this country in 2010 would finish the job that 1994 started, i.e. making soccer a major sport in this country. That is an impressive feat everywhere, not many stadiums in the world hold more people.
