Yeah, right – whereas materazzi is SUCH a class act, such a WONDERFUL advertisement for Italy. I love all these MAJOR HYPOCRITES who talk about “honor” and “class” while defending a lowlife thug and liar like materazzi – it’s as if he’s a great representative of the Italian nation, which is pretty insulting to Italy. I certainly don’t think he’s representative of Italy, I guess you guys do. What a load of hypocrites – “honor” and “class” mean absolutely NOTHING to you guys – you just use concepts like that when it’s convenient for you. Words like that are totally foreign to you. And as a man, Zizou has a zillion times more class than a lowlife like Matti will ever have. Don’t take my word for it – just listen to all the Italian players and Marcello Lippi and other Italians who worked with him for years at Juventus and all considered him a wonderful man full of class, generosity, graciousness and warmth. The Italians who worked with Zizou had and continue to have enormous respect for him and there are many, many quotes in the European press of guys like Lippi and del Piero saying as much. But hey, they just know him personally, what do they know? You idiots see one match and are all suddenly experts on the greatest European footballer in the last 50 years. I notice all the morons condemning zizou are from non-footballing nations who know ZERO about the sport or zidane as a man or as a player.

“ZZ to return the Golden Ball.” as suggested by kasets. That would be the classy thing to do yet it hasn’t been done yet. Don’t hold your breathe for ZZ to do the classy thing.

FIFA has screwed up the Golden Ball aware in the last 3 world cups, so I really don’t take it seriously anymore. The reason for that is that the award is decided before the final. In the 1998 world cup, they gave it to Ronaldo – in the final he not only crapped out for his team, he crapped out DISASTROUSLY. He was a zombie on the pitch. In 2002, they gave it to Oliver Kahn – before he seriously crapped out in the final while Ronaldo performed beautifully. So Germany 2006 just continues the pattern.

Mr. Blatter clearly is working on some agenda that I can’t even figure out. How on earth is working this thing deep into the ground helping anything in footie? I completely don’t get it. And to compare Robben Island with anything in this situation is obscene in the extreme. Blatter should spend 27 seconds thinking about what an ass he’s being. 27 seconds = one second for each year Mandela spent in Robben. Semms kinda disgusting to compare, doesn’t it Blatter?

Zidane’s moved on. He’s been busy – he was at the PSG-Marseille match on Sunday and interviewed by Canal Plus – he praised Frank Ribery’s performance, said he loved watching the France-Italy match, also said that for awhile in the summer he’d had nightmares about the final in Germany and thought France could’ve won, but that things happened the way they did and “we must accept it.” He spent the summer on the beach with his family, released a joint statement with Ronaldo (they’re UN goodwill ambassadors) calling for the world to assist South Africa in improving its public transport system for the 2010 wc, attended the Danone Nations Cup games on September 3rd in Lyon (it’s the world’s largest children’s football tournament – he’s the event’s celebrity sponsor) and told Real Madrid that he would not accept the remaining 6 million euros left in his contract, saying the money should instead go to the club’s humanitarian and football training work with kids (a program he works with). I seriously doubt he’s interested in a stunt like this. Zidane is discreet and doesn’t like talking to the press about anything except his game. He hates talking to the press about anything personal or political and avoids it at all costs. I imagine with time the two will meet somewhere and reach an understanding – and that we’ll probably never know about it. Blatter should just let this drop. Time heals.

This just makes me want to barf. Yeah, let’s force them to go all kissy-kissy, purely for publicity, and pretend it’s a world-altering event. Materazzi would probably love the PR, but I can’t imagine Zidane ever going for this.
