Blog Action Day: David James takes on Chelsea’s Toilets
By: Bob | October 15th, 2007
Monday is Blog Action Day, which is an effort to encourage people from across the blogosphere to write about the environment. The environment is an important part of the soccer world, of course, so we’re happy to participate. Without the environment there wouldn’t be grass and without grass we’d all end up wrecking our knees on artificial pitches in Moscow and frankly life would end as we know it.
But fake grass isn’t the most pressing environmental issue facing the soccer universe today. Far from it. In all matters environment we defer to Portsmouth and England keeper David James who has taken on a role as the environmental czar of the England Premier League.
James is set to work with the league to improve its environmental record, starting with the toilets at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge.
“I’ve been told they have a toilet system that flushes automatically every 20 seconds, which must entail using an absolutely ridiculous amount of water,” he said.
“Absolutely no thought has been given to environmental issues during the design of that sanitary system.”
Surely a sequel to An Inconvenient Truth is in order. Now if we can only come up with a way to mitigate the effects of toxic hair gels.

Ironic that an American is joking about the ‘environment.’ but the environment is no joke – just ask China and Romania too!!! – three biggest culprits of co2 emissions the world has ever seen… anyway who can keep up with David James’s hairstyle’s anyway after all he is a well reknowned artist.
