Blogger Wanted: MLS Offside
By: Laurie | June 2nd, 2008
We are currently looking for a special kind of blogger on our MLS Offside page.
We’re looking for a team player. A collaborator. Somebody who plays well with others. (Although if you want to run with scissors, that’s entirely your choice.)
MLS Offside is a different breed of animal from most of our other blogs. Of course you’ll be writing about MLS issues. But because we have MLS team blogs, you’ll also be working with the team bloggers, providing lots of love and linkage, and reporting a lot on general MLS stuff that affects more than one team. And yet single team issues aren’t off-limits either.
What we’re looking for is somebody who has a good feel for the balance that’s going to be needed. (As one good example of how this will work, check out our Bundesliga Offside blog.)
It’s not a paid job, but it’s a fun group of bloggers and an interesting site to write for. And we’re expecting a lot of growth in MLS, which will mean a lot of growth in our MLS blogs. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please send an email with sample post to laurie[at]theoffside[dot]com.

Not to mention a pretty hefty number of people reading your stuff. For people interested in paying careers as a sports blogger / sportswriter, you have to start by getting your name out, and this is one way to do that.

The MLS coverage on the Offside is fantastic and has gotten much better over the past year (both the individual club blogs and the main page). Very happy to see a big (and growing) soccer blog giving love to our domestic game alongside the big European boys. Good luck finding a good MLS point person, I’ll be reading!
