Bold Proclamations

Massimo Moratti is widely known for being far from intelligent. Actually, the guy’s as dumb as a bag of rocks. He’s also prone to making ludicrous statements which leave even the least logical of people scratching their heads in wonderment. Well, this week he gave us his 1.5 cents and weighed in on Inter’s first leg loss to the Reds at Anfield on Tuesday. In short, he’s not worried because Inter can “score 15 goals if we want to“. Right. (I know, shocking revelation: insanity from Serie A owners.)
I understand some of this may be a bit of an exaggeration, but even saying 5 goals would be more than sufficient. We get the point, there’s no need to insult Liverpool’s defense like that. (And don’t think for a second this won’t make the bulletin board at Anfield).
“We have yet to play the second leg, which will be in the more favourable conditions at San Siro,” he said.
“If the crowd are as I expect them to be, it will be hard for Liverpool. I have trust. We have 90 minutes and we can score 15 goals if we want to.”
And anywho, when was the last time a team scored 15 goals in the Champions League? Of course, this may not be an exaggeration, because Moratti followed up with this: “We must be proud to be Inter, because we are better than all the others.” You know what? I’m sure he believes it, too. The arrogance with the way he handles himself and his affairs - feeling Inter are simply entitled to certain transfers and double standards - is downright asinine.
And just to make we were all fully on board with his philosophies:
“My intention is to invest less on new purchases. I have no priority in buying any Italians.”
No shit, huh.

chris…come on! he was joking when he said that. and secondly, teh whole “We must be proud to be Inter, because we are better than all the others.” was in defense of mancini after he got verbally abused from fans.

I dunno, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but even Inter fans know he’s arrogant as hell.

It’s be pretty cool if Inter does end up scoring 15 goals on Liverpool, that’d be awesome!

One time I’m really wishing he’d be proved right. There’ll be no living with them in the aftermath, but the alternative = too horrible to contemplate.

15 goals is quite obviously an exaggeration. Though if they want to score at all they’ll have to not play Ibra up front on his own. Great player and all, but not a lone striker who is going to get you 15 goals a game.

and yeah chris, i do agree that sometimes he could be a royal dick

Yeah, sometimes a royal dick, but it’s obvious exaggeration.
And, as kirby said, the whole “Inter are better than all the others” (which is true by the way
) was just a defence for Mancini.Posted from

yeah if he said 5 goals that’s wishful thinking but possible in a game of football
15 is hyperbole and shouldn’t be taken at face value. before posting insulting flame baiting news items u might want to understand the context in which remarks are made

yea obvious exaggeration. and hes obviously going to say his team is the best the way theyre dominating in the serie a, and its his team hes not going to say we have no chance at winning. he should believe theyre the best. plus liverpool sucks this year.

This is Massimo Moratti. He says shit like this all the time. The guy is incredibly pompous and quite, well, stupid. 15 is obviously an exaggeration in terms of numbers, but what isn’t an exaggeration is the insult to Liverpool’s defense. There’s your face value.
