Chelsea could have gotten it done much earlier, but they were certain that Bolton would blink first with their demand for 15 million for Anelka. Bolton didn't blink, and Chelsea was desperate with Drogba heading to African Cup of Nations, so we had the deal getting done half-assed at the last minute.
