Champions League: Previews, Stories, Spectacles
By: Bob | May 22nd, 2007
Liverpool. AC Milan. Champions League final. We know that Wednesday’s tilt won’t be as thrilling (or disappointing, depending on your point of view) as when these two teams met in Istanbul back in 2005. But even with muted expectations, it is hard not to be excited when two giants of the sport slug it out in one of the world’s premier competitions. I will LiveBlog during the game and it would be lovely if you could stop by to join me.
The Liverpool Offside, AC Milan Offside, and Italy Offside are stoking the fires of pregame hype and I encourage you to visit them for their unique perspectives on what we will see in Athens.
There’s also some excellent coverage floating around this thing that some call the blogosphere.
- Footie Girl breaks down some of the key matchups (Footie Girl)
- That’s On Point offers its unique take on the tilt (That’s On Point)
- This is Anfield looks at it from the Liverpool perspective (This is Anfield)
- ThroughBall asks whether AC Milan should even be participating (ThroughBall)
- Some People on the Pitch looks at how you should wager your money (Some People on the Pitch)
The traditional media also is churning out stories. You can learn how lifting the Champions League trophy could mean 100 million euros for the winner. You can read that Kaka (looking very scholarly in glasses) is dedicating the game to the world’s 400 million hungry children. You can follow the saga of Andriy Shevchenko going back to AC Milan or staying with Chelsea. You can also have you expectations dampened by Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.
You can also predict the outcome. I’m on record as saying Milan will win 2-1, which is probably the curse of death for the Italian club.
