China Olympic Soccer Team Brawls with QPR
By: Bob | February 8th, 2007
Pity the poor China Olympic soccer team. They thought that their trip London would be full of pleasant memories. They would take in Big Ben, feast on some chips and fish, and get a little bit of training in as they build towards the 2008 Games, which their country will host. Things haven’t turned out quite as expected.
First there was a minor controversy after some of the Chinese players complained that Chelsea’s training pitch isn’t worthy of a pickup game in rural China. They also complained that they couldn’t take showers at the training ground because they were being used by females and students (most footballers wouldn’t mind sharing showers with females – shower together and conserve water).
Perhaps the lack of showering can explain the grumpiness the team displayed on Wednesday during a friendly against Queens Park Rangers. I know that if I don’t have a shower first thing in the morning that I am irritable all day and that I am likely to throw it down with anyone who crosses my path.
Chinese under-23 international Zheng Tao was knocked unconscious during a brawl in a match against Queens Park Rangers at the English club’s training ground on Wednesday, media reports said.
Web portal Sina said Zheng had broken his jaw and lost a tooth in the clash.
‘I’ve never seen anything like it in my life,’ a witness told the Ealing Gazette newspaper. ‘There were punches, kung-fu kicks and all sorts. It was absolute mayhem.’
Video of the mayhem is below.

Dude, was anyone else reminded of the City of Angels (starring Nic Cage) movie poster?
Seriously.
