but wait what are these extra tournaments? superliga? us open cup? doesn't EPL have the FA cup and Carling Cup plus Champions League for the big four? i mean how are teams even selected to superliga anyway?
maybe they could have a mini preseason tournament like mexico's interliga for the 4 places.

Can't make Superliga a Champions league until we in include Costa Rica, Hondurus, Guatamala, Panama, El Salvador, the Carribean ect ect. Otherwise it would be like a European Champs league with only the Italian and English league. And the new Superliga would look pretty much like this. Good thing that they are trying, nows the time to axe Superliga and truthfully- only two spots for Costa Rica? That is depending on who you talk to the second (yes, above MLS) or third best league (for those who tell the truth) in the region and definately the best league in Central America, putting it on an equal footing with those others is a mistake. Take away El Salvador or Panama's second and give it to them.

Toronto can't compete in the previous incarnation because the spots are given to the national confederation to distribute as they please and while Canadian teams participate in US leagues the USSF is not about to give such a gift to the Canadian FA. The Canada spot will be determined however Canada sees fit and wil give a shot to Montreal & Vancouver probably. Heck, Puerto Rico can qualify through the Carribean.

Too many damn teams in this tournament! Why cant we just make the Super Liga the Champions League. Last years Super Liga was very very promising and the final was incredible.

Love it! It'd especially be great if a US team that's not LA won! The US winning the first one could give some much needed legitimacy to the MLS.

That's the debate traveling around the blogosphere today. The other options are the Vancouver Whitecaps or the Montreal Impact. Jeff Bull over at Center Holds It has a funny post on just this subject.

I'm assuming that Toronto FC counts here as a US side, because they are in the US league. Is that correct, or will they always be the team from Canada?
