Countdown To Mourinho’s Employment
By: chris | May 27th, 2008
What do you suppose Jose has been doing with his last 8 months of unemployment? Watching day time soaps, lacing the couch with Cheeto stains, prank calling Arsene Wenger and Alex? Whatever it is the end seems to be coming near, as everything (text messages included) indicate he’ll be adding a black stripe to the blue next year as head coach for Inter. Roberto Mancini reportedly had a brief meeting with head cheese Massimo Moratti this afternoon and found himself unemployed. We think. His agent isn’t even privy to this sort of info right now.
What started it all is this little quote from his agent…
“I don’t know anything yet, because I haven’t been able to speak properly to Roberto,” said the coach’s friend and agent Giorgio De Giorgis.“Is it over for him at Inter? More or less. It seems like a yes, but I haven’t got any confirmation yet.
….with the news that there had been a meeting between Moratti and Mancio at the club today.
Couple this with Mourinho’s text message to Michael Essien from Monday…..
“Michael, you have all been great players regardless of the loss to Manchester United. On Monday I will sign for Inter and I hope that one day you too will come to Inter.”
…..and one plus one seems to equal two, eh? Even though Monday has come and passed, it seems as though we’re approaching the inevitable: Morurinho will be Inter’s new coach as the Nerazzurri continue with their neverending quest to purge all Italians from the club.
It may be better for calcio or it may be worse, depending on who you ask (I’m fine with it as long as he comes equipped with a muzzle and Essien stays in London), but Serie A will be unquestionably more interesting:

What i don’t understand is why Mancini is fired if he managed the club to two back-to-back scudettos…
Well i don’t really care, I hate inter more than I hate… anything.Posted from

I think it’s funny how paradox-acal this is. Mourinho and Mancini both start with M…. both were axed after repeated failure in European competitions… both delivered back to back domestic titles though… and both managed teams that wear blue & have wealthy owners. What’s really gonna change?

He’ll suit Inter. No worries about playing attractive football or whatever, just winning, which to be fair is what he’s good at. Plus, he’s entertaining, even if his teams are not. Plus, it’ll give Drogba somewhere to go.
