Croatian Footballer Given a Sheep for Every Goal he Scores

By: Bob | April 25th, 2007

sheep-soccer.jpgYou know what is ruining modern football? It is overpaid players who are just in the game for the obscene bonuses and farm animals. Take Ivica Supe, for example. The defender plays for the Croatian third division club Zagora FC. He has scored 16 goals this season. An impressive number for a forward let alone a defender, but is it really an effort worthy of 16 sheep? I’d say he has had an eight sheep season, max.

Supe has been handed the sheep bonus by one of the club’s sponsors, a local shepherd named Josko Bralic, who has promised the team a sheep for every goal scored by a defender this season.

“It was a surprise, I just don’t know where I will keep them. And I am expecting to score more by the end of the season,” said Supe, 29.

Don’t be surprised if Supe is in a contract dispute this summer and tries to extort the club for something like camels. What ever happened to simply playing for the love of the game?
