Croatia’s Euro 2008 Anthem, by Slaven Bilić’s Band Rawbau

By: Daryl | May 12th, 2008

Croatia’s coach Slaven Bilić quite literally rocks. This is the video for “Vatreno ludilo”, the fan anthem Bilić and his band Rawbau have written and recorded for Croatia’s Euro 2008 run. That’s Bilić on guitar, with the shades.

And in case your Croatian needs a little work, Vatreno ludilo means Fiery Madness. Read on for the full translated lyrics, courtesy of Mario from the excellent Croatia Euro 2008 Blog

We were together in ‘98
World has heard of us
And still the bronze medal shines
When we beat Japan, Holland, Romania, Germany

And now, 10 years later
Again the same hope, same dream
We have the tickets, backpacks, and a crest on our chests (Crest 3x)

Fieeery Madness, when it starts, Fieeery
Let everything burn when through our veins
Red and white starts flowing

Not to be outdone, Poland now has an anthem too. Though unfortunately it’s not written by Leo Beenhakker.

It’s damn near impossible to judge the merits of a music in a foreign language. So I’m not going to try.

All I can say for sure is that the music video “Fiery Madness” by Rawbau is superior to “Diamond Lights” as performed (read: mimed) by Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle on Top of the Pops in 1987…

i can totally see that ian.
  • What's funniest about this to me is that I listened to the clip before I read the lyrics, and I thought it sounded like "Arrrrr-senal!"
