MLS is worth watching because you can actually watch it in person, and it will get better if Eurofans turn up in person or even tune in on TV occasionally. Football on TV is a very poor approximation of the real thing, after all.

Ahh, gotcha. But I’m moving to Europe permanently in about a month so I won’t be able to follow MLS. My roommates from college were on the soccer team and they refused to watch MLS after we picked up Fox Soccer. I’ve just never had anyone make the argument that MLS is worth watching if you have access to European/South American games. The World Cup performance also really hurt MLS. If those are really the countries top stars, what does that say about the quality of league play? Where’s the draw? But I’ll actually give it a try next time I see the Revolution on. Open mind, I promise.

Laurie, I’m always joking. I don’t have any ill will even though you do cover France. I was actually going to approach with a friendly wager about that September game, I’ll even give you odds…….

Yeah, Chris. A bunch of us Eurosnobs are giving MLS a try this year. It’s not the beautifully accurate game that my beloved French guys play, but it’s probably a step up for Italy fans.

(That’s a joke, okay? A little friendly rivalry?)

Chris, the article is more about Mourinho’s personality than his coaching style. You should give MLS a try. It is a much better product than it was 10 years ago.

I didn’t read the article, but has this guy ever seen Chelsea play? Mourinho’s tactical genius consists of hoofing up long balls to Drogba. Occasionally he’ll switch it up by hoofing long balls to Drogba. On special occasions, when that doesn’t work, he pull a trick out of the bag and hoof long balls up to Drogba. His job is to take the onus onto himself instead of the players, thats all he does. I’m sure there are managers like that in MLS, but I haven’t seen a game since the inaugural season so I don’t know.
