Daily Dose 07.07.08
By: Laurie | July 7th, 2008Some news to read as you are crowned the king of chess boxing:
- Would you believe me if I said that the combination of Greek and German philosophers + football is hysterically funny? What if I mentioned it was Monty Python? (Molto Calcio)
- Offense and defense stats for MLS at the halfway point of the season. And guess which team earns the sentence “If the season ended today, they would rank in the top ten all time for best offense and worst defense.” (Climbing the Ladder)
- How the US Women developed their pack mentality, and how Pia Sundhage could help them break free. (Sideline Views)
- Brazil announces its Olympic squad. And I’ll give you a hint: two of the three names of the over-23 players start with R. (Brazil Offside)
- To add insult to injury, Copa Libertadores loser Fluminense also lose their share of the gate proceeds (Copa Libertadores Offside)
- And to get us through our July doldrums, how about some juicy unsubstantiated rumors involving Cristiano Ronaldo’s current WAG and another famous footballer. (This is Extra Time)
- And while we’re at it, how about the top ten photos of footballers on holiday? (Who Ate All the Pies)
- Who are the hottest players in MLS? (Oh. Wait. He’s using a different definition. This ain’t Kickette, people. Adjust your expectations accordingly.) (Soccer by Ives)
- Osorio is ready to chop some heads. (I think our blogger Dave is speaking figuratively here.) (Red Bulls Offside)
- More on Raymond Domenech keeping his job (France blog)

Who ate all the pies never fully works for me? I can never see any of the comments and in the story above I couldn’t see the full gallery. Does anyone else ever have these problems?

If Chelsea had existed two and a half milenia ago, Socrates would have been a great pick-up.

Nick, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bob had posted it at one time. It’s just the kind of thing he liked. (So do I.)
Ryan, what, I’m supposed to check these things to make sure they work before I give them to you? Are you sure that’s in my job description?
I haven’t been able to get comments to work on Pies for awhile now, but I was able to see the other vacation photos when I clicked on the one dubbed “Fat Ronaldo” on their main page. Give that a try.

Ha no I wasn’t complaining about you at all, I was just wondering if anyone else had issues with the site, I had a theory it’s because I’m in America and its a British site but I don’t think thats a logical explanation. It works now for me even though it wasn’t earlier. Definitely wasn’t trying to criticize you ( or anyone really) personally.

Ryan, Oops. Forgot to insert smiley emoticon in my previous comment. I was merely being mildly sarcastic.
