  Well, considering that this falls squarely into the “nerd niche” of the computer accessory market, the bias toward selling to young, (at least outwardly) heterosexual males shouldn’t be too surprising. But I have to agree on your other point - the French maid outfit would seem like a pretty obvious option to me.
