Oh dear. Part of that name is all right (it’s not like the Sounders is fantastic either), but involving “Green” in it is only okay if we’re to become the Green River Killers.
Does this mean we can sing that USE song, though? It sounds like a chant anyway…

Love the Eurosnobbery article. I couldn’t believe how many Brazil jerseys I saw people wearing over the summer and I’m pretty sure most of ‘em were worn by Americans.

I don’t get what the obsession with the name Sounders is. Yes the name has a history but it’s not like that’s a good name or anything.
However it is certainly better than THAT

Eek, Emerald City Greens is an AWFUL name. It’s not even going to have Seattle in the name? Great marketing strategy. That’ll really get the fans excited. Amazing.

Emerald City Greens, sponsored by Marijuana. And not that fake LA Galaxy Herbalife stuff, either.

Here it’s being called Emerald City Seattle FC, which isn’t terrible, as far as MLS names go (it’s better than the Rapids, at least). “Greens” would be a nickname. At least, I hope so. But I’m still pulling for USE chants. “Emerald City” was made to be a football chant.

I love that the Eurosnob blog has a ton of stuff attempting to validate American soccer but doesn’t have an area for comments.
“I take your snobbery, and raise you…SOME SNOBBERY haHA!”

Isn’t “Emerald City Greens” the name of a golf course?
Always remember: don’t forget to replace your divots, kids.
