Del Piero not coming to MLS. Time to fire up the Luis Figo Rumors again
By: Bob | October 17th, 2007
You can put those rumors about Alessandro Del Piero moving to MLS to rest for a couple more years. He has re-upped with Juventus. At the same time you can dust off those Luis Figo to MLS rumors because the man who has been flirting with the U.S. league for seemingly an eternity is back at it again.
Said the 34-year-old Inter Milan midfielder today:
“I haven’t ruled out a move to America, quite the opposite,” he told magazine O Jogo.
“If I am to continue playing, I want to do something positive for my family.
“For example, if I were in the USA it would give my daughter the chance to learn English.
“If there are interesting offers from the MLS I will consider them, if not, I will retire.”
The offering will have to be verrrry interesting considering he never did accept that offer of $8 million to play for six months in the Saudi Arabia. I doubt his asking price will be anywhere near that, but it will be high for a player with diminishing skills. Considering that Figo has expressed interest in MLS and MLS has expressed interest in Figo, I think we’ll eventually see him playing somewhere in the league. Until then, we’ll just have to read about it every couple of months or so.

Oh, how I would love this. But only if it’s after Seattle gets an MLS team- I want to see even an ancient Figo play in the flesh.

I want to know how it came to be that you posted Martha’s favorite picture in the universe and she hasn’t stopped by to comment yet.

I’m afraid that if I comment it will go away.
[If he comes to RBNY, with whom he had talks over the summer, I will die. If he goes to LA, there is a long list of people I would kill, including The Great Figo himself.]

Toronto and New England are the obvious ethnic pandering locals.
