Did Anyone See the Madrid Derby?
By: Daryl | August 25th, 2007
Not unless you were at the Bernabeu you didn’t. Because there’s some sort of ongoing complicated dispute between Audiovisual Sport (the owners of La Liga TV rights) and the Mediapro production company that distributes the matches. Audiovisual say Mediapro owe them €58 million, and so they’ve cut them off until they pay up, resulting in the TV blackout of a thrilling Madrid derby.
Atletico took the lead through Argentine wonderkid Sergio Aguero, but Real pulled off another yet another come from behind victory, winning 2-1 with goals from Raul and Wesley Sneijder.
Apparently it was a good game. Apparently. Let’s all cross our fingers and hope Audiovisual Sport and Mediapro sort out their differences, because with La Liga looking so juicy this year (consider Barcelona’s attacking options) we don’t want to miss another minute of the action.

Audiovisual Sport should buy me another television because mine came flying towards my foot as a result from missing the match! :@

YouTube has about 30 minutes of the second half if you search for the game. Does anyone know what the situation looks like for this weekends game?

What a disappointment. I was all ready for my weekend of futbol and nothing. Both the Madrid and the Barca game were not televised and I was ready to scream. Thankfully I had Manchester U and The Galaxy to watch but I had my heart set on the derby…I missed my Raul scoring…darn it.
