Dimitar Berbatov is the New Rafael van der Vaart

(Pardon the mess on the photos, spilled some garbage on them this morning.)

This is one of today’s Shocking! News! Stories!. That’s Dimitar Berbatov at an airport signing a jersey. Guess what club it is…yup, you guessed it.

I wonder if this would’ve made the press were it any other jersey but Manchester United. (He’s been linked there, did you know that?) But it has and it’s quite a big deal because Dimitar does not play his home games at Old Trafford (yet). And it’s kind of disrespectful to sign the jersey when your current club is still paying your substantial paycheck knowing full well it’s anything but a random shirt for another team. Kind of like posing for wedding pictures with one woman while you’re engaged to someone else. Nothing good can come of it.

Now if Rafael van der Vaart (below) is any type of barometer for being a first rate jackass while begging for your move out, Dimitar will have to wait until next summer for his move…..to Chelsea.

i thought you were going to tell us he broke wind on the bench...
  • Ditto Rob, Ted, and Ak. Media just loooove stories like these... to blow them out of proportion.
  • Ak
Agree with Rob and Ted: it's not as if he posed with it. I don't think there's any intent from berbatov to make any more of this than a simple autograph, and that's enough for me to strike this as more garbage from the tabloids.
  • Ted
I'm with Rob; give the guy a break. Autograph hounds stick anything under a player's nose, and if he doesn't sign it he's a "bad guy."
  • Rob
If someone stuck it under his nose - probably a Sun reporter, he would have just had to smile and do it. Otherwise it would have been "Moody Berba doesn't sign anything for Spurs fans. Maybe he's leaving for ManYoo" - the newspaper would have manipulated it either way.
