Dirk Bikkembergs – Messing With Amateur Footballers Since 2005
By: Daryl | March 25th, 2009
German fashion designer Dirk Bikkembergs first came to our attention last week, when Dirty Tackle posted the above team photo of Italian amateur team FC Bikkembergs Fossombrone.
Basically Bikkembergs brought the team (formerly known as F.C. Fossombrone) in 2005 and gave them a weird/fashionable new kit. Good stuff I say, and about time a team went with something other than solids, stripes or hoops. Not sure how I feel about Bikkembergs re-branding a whole football team and using them as real life models though.
Bikkembergs was back in the blogs today after going a step further. The Spoiler has a story – via Deuce of Davenport and The Guardian – about Bikkembergs having another amateur footballer – Andrea Vasa of Brera – live in the front window of his Milan boutique. I kid you not:

Vasa has covered papered his shower with pages from the Gazzetta dello Sport, but other than that he’s living his life for all to see. Passers by can peer through the window at this poor fellow, and any customers at the store can ring the bell and pay Vasa a visit with Vasa anytime they feel like.
Bikkembergs claims the idea is to let customers “identify themselves with a sporting personality”, which is a bit odd considering Vasa isn’t exactly Ricky Kaka. Seems like a sad arthouse parody of the life of a real megastar footballer to me, so I hope Vasa is being handsomely rewarded for being Bikkemberg’s zoo animal.
