Domakinov Fined for Lack of High Fives
By: Bob | August 16th, 2006
If we received a fine for every time we didn’t show proper enthusiasm during a meeting with colleagues at the office, we’d be in debt for the rest of our lives.
Perhaps that is why we’re sympathetic to Bulgarian international defender Nikolai Domakinov, who has been fined by his club team for not congratulating his teammates following a victory this past weekend.
Domakinov, who had a fever and left the match early, has to cough up $650 for “showing no respect to his teammates”. That is quite a bit of money which in a land where no means yes and yes means no. You’d also think that the club would be happy that a sick player wasn’t spreading his germs through high fives and butt slaps.
Lest you think that Domakinov was faking his illness and was simply being all uppity towards his club teammates, he missed yesterday’s international friendly against Wales becauseā¦.he was sick.
