English Premier League 2006/2007 Saves of the Season
By: Bob | June 4th, 2007
We’ve taken a look at the top goals from the 2006/2007 English Premier League season, now let’s take a gander at some of the top saves. My vote goes to Jussi Jääskeläinen and not just because I like typing the name Jussi Jääskeläinen, but because he shows some serious hops in the save. Runner-up goes to Ben Foster who gets docked points for his other efforts. Your vote?

Gotta be the Brad Friedel — he starts at the near post, then makes saves in the center and at the far post. I remember watching that match live and thinking it was the best sequence by a keeper I’d ever seen.

Man, I loved that David James save… he came all the way from the far post to knock that free kick away. Great save!

The non-keeper save of the year has to be Nolberto Solano’s header save against Arsenal. Here’s the link:

David James. To make a save like that without mussing up the hair is spectacular.

What a selection! I would have to say:
1) Jussi: To save a pigeon…I’m speechless.
2) Friedel: That is just an arsey double save.
3) Robinson: I dare not say it…but that reflex save was warp drive like (if that is a word)?

It has to be Jens Lehmanns wondersave against Man Utd at Old Trafford in the dying minutes where he somehow managed to turn Ole Gunnnar Solskjaers low strike around the post with his fingertips.

The best save ever must be Jersey Dudek’s save against Milan in the last minute of the game, which allowed Liverpool to go on and win the Europen cup for the 5th time.
