Expert: David Beckham’s Commute could kill his Career
By: Bob | June 8th, 2007
Think back to those gone by when we first learned that David Beckham had signed on to play with the LA Galaxy. The news was huge in the United States media but largely met with snickers in the UK press. The basic sentiment in England was Becks shouldn’t let the door hit his backside on the way out. Flash forward to today and the tune has changed. Beckham has had a couple of excellent games for the England national team and suddenly the snickers have turned to concern. MLS is going to ruin England’s shot at glory.
What you see instead are stories that say Beckham is questioning his move to MLS even though he really hasn’t said that. You see stories about how the Galaxy could loan him to a team in England or Europe even though that is highly unlikely. And you see stories like this one from the BBC that say that Beckham’s career will be ruined because he will be exposed to germs while flying from Los Angeles to Chicago and that his leg could be toast because he’ll spend 200 hours or so in the air over the course of the next year.
There is no doubt that air travel can take a toll on even the best of us, but somehow I don’t think that David Beckham’s career is going to be ruined because he has to fly in a first class cabin or on charter across the pond a dozen times a year. As for being exposed to germs, this is a man who is married to Posh Spice. If he hasn’t picked up a life threatening disease by now, I don’t think sharing an airplane with Cobi Jones is going to kill him or his chance to lead England to its inevitable Euro 2008 quarterfinals glory.

I blame my lack of athletic prowess on having to sit in the middle seat too many times. The airplane food also took years off my career.

“As for being exposed to germs, this is a man who is married to Posh Spice.”
Classic.

The BBC with a story from nothing… I seriously doubt Beckham will be flying coach! He’ll probably spend the entire flight asleep in a king size bed aboard his own private 747!

The Guardian dispels the “threat”. Do you suppose some sub editor at the BBC got teary eyed thinking of Becks not playing for England and decide to run with a story that isn’t a story?

When he decided to come to the US, (other than the money) it was because he wanted to wind things down.
He’s not really going to play as much as he did for Real Madrid.Posted from
