Fair Play is not Easy
By: Bob | June 25th, 2007It is one of the more sporting traditions in football. A player goes down injured and the other team stops play. The injured player’s team then returns the ball by sending it into the goal only to be forced to allow the opposing team to score. Mandatory injury goals would be one way to increase scoring in the sport as long as the team in yellow isn’t involved.

That’s pretty damned funny. Best long-distance unintentional goal ever.

+1
The “I didn’t mean to do that” look on the initial goal scorer’s face is priceless.

The clip is from Ajax 2 vs Cambuur Leeuwarden in the Dutch cup tournament a couple of years ago. The goal scorer is Jan Vertonghen, who plays in the Belgian U21-team.
