Fan for a Match: AaB Aalborg

aalborg-bk.gifI was searching around for a team to support in this week’s installment of Fan for a Match and I wasn’t having much luck finding a club with an interesting story or one in desperate need of the almighty powers this support imposes. A bit stumped, I took out my handy dandy phone book with listings of all the teams in the world and picked the first name listed: AaB Aalborg.

It was a brilliant marketing decision on their part to make their club name heavy of the ‘a’. It was also brilliant for them to design their logo to include a pair of breasts. I’m hooked already.

Aalborg Boldspilklub is the club’s official name but thankfully for those who spend their days typing most people simply call them AaB. The team does its battle in the Danish Superliga. Those familiar with American soccer might know that defender Danny Califf is on the current AaB roster, as are Brazilians Caca and Chrys. The team currently sits in 4th place in the 12-team league and is on the road Sunday to take on 7th-place Esbjerg fB, who are the team I hate most in the world this moment.

I’ve had two winning weeks in a row with my Fan for a Match selections and am confident that the phone book friendly side from Denmark won’t let me down. If you would like your team to benefit from the intenseness that is known as Fan for a Match support, drop me a line at bob [at] theoffside.com. I announce the selection each Thursday and brag about the wins or cry about the losses on Monday.

Bob, heard you didn't like your handle. From now on I think of you as "the Great Roberto". I'm thinking of having the logo tattooed. The B also brings to mind other fine portions the anatomy. Very Creative indeed. Would of made a good logo for a women's team.

Here's one for you next week Bob. How about Welling United a non-league club that play in the Nationwide Conference South division which is one division below the Nationwide Conference that is one division below the Coca-Cola League Two?? Just a thought!

Sweet logo. Reminds me of the strip club down the street.
